The Paracel cellulosic forestry project selected Doosan Skoda as the first equipment supplier for the factory

Asunción, July 27, 2022: The Paraguayan company Paracel S.A. announces today the first selection of an equipment supplier for the 1.8 million ton/year pulp mill to be built in Concepción, Paraguay. Doosan Skoda has been selected as the first company to supply two turbogenerators to the factory.

Paracel plans to produce 1.8 million tons/year in the pulp mill project in Concepción, Paraguay, with forestry assets of more than 180,000 hectares of owned land. The company was founded on November 12, 2018 and since then has forested more than 16,000 hectares, completed the design of the factory, received the construction permit for the factory, completed environmental and social impact assessments, has It has carried out major earthmoving works for the future industrial plant, has completed the documentation for CO2 capture and has established action plans for the native forest conservation project and social programs.

Today the next step was taken, the selection of the first supplier for the factory project, after a global evaluation and negotiation process.

Doosan Skoda has been selected to supply two turbogenerators to the factory, for the production of 220 MW of renewable electrical energy. Half will be used to run the factory and the other half will be supplied to the ANDE network in the region, as Paracel recently reported.

Paracel Project Director Luciano Lafuente explains: “Skoda represents proven cutting-edge technology with the top-tier quality required in the industrial plant. The engineering work and commercial negotiations that have led to this decision have been very demanding, so it is very satisfying to now announce this great step”.
