Paracel’s journey began with two companies, independent of each other, located on different continents, but sharing the same vision: to generate a positive impact on society and foster increased demand for biodegradable products.
The Zapag group, Paraguay’s leading fuel importer and distributor, saw an opportunity in the growth of cellulose-derived products and decided to acquire land for forestry. The choice of this land was made considering factors such as degraded land, soil suitability and good conditions for biological growth, logistics, and the possibility of providing work for thousands of people in the region.
Girindus Investments is a group of companies based in Sweden, with extensive experience in research and development of the cellulose business in its entire production chain: from sustainable reforestation to cellulose production. Seeking to expand the business in a competitive environment, Girindus was interested in participating in the development of a new project that meets all the criteria of a state-of-the-art sustainable cellulose plant.
Thus, the combined vision of the Zapag Group and Girindus resulted in the creation of Paracel, a company that aims to build a world-class cellulose plant in the region of Concepción, Paraguay.
