Signing of agreement between INDI and Paracel

An inter-institutional cooperation agreement was signed between the Paraguayan Indigenous Institute (INDI) and Paracel S.A., with the aim of implementing the Indigenous Peoples Plan.

The event took place this Monday, February 12, at the state agency’s facilities on Artigas Avenue in the city of Asunción. INDI was represented by Marlene Graciela Ocampos Benítez, president of the institution, and Paracel was represented by Latifi Chelala, Director of Communication and Social Sustainability, and Marcos Kosman, Financial Director.

With this agreement, INDI commits to accompany and guide Paracel in the development and implementation of the Indigenous Peoples Plan, which has the following objectives:

  • Ensure full respect for the rights of indigenous peoples and the implementation of activities established by current legislation and international regulations.
  • Establish a participatory, healthy and predictable relationship framework with indigenous communities.
  • Strengthen support to indigenous communities with Paracel.
  • Promote local and community development.
  • Influence Paracel’s stakeholders for the improvement of the relationship practices with indigenous communities.
  • Generate a successful experience of social management with indigenous communities in the country that can inspire the work of future local and foreign investment projects of similar dimensions.
