Paracel is working to obtain VCS carbon credits
Carbon credits are a carbon market tool and represent one ton of CO2 equivalent absorbed or avoided in the atmosphere. These credits are generated by different types of sustainable projects that reduce, remove or avoid greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
These credits can be purchased and used by other companies or organizations that need to offset their own emissions. In this way, carbon credits create a market in which emission reductions can be bought and sold.
It is important to highlight that, in order to generate carbon credits, projects must meet quality and verification criteria established by carbon standards, which ensure that emission reductions are real, measurable and permanent.
These credits are verified by organizations specializing in carbon standards such as Verra, which with its Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) program is the most widely used standard worldwide with more than 1,300 certified projects that have reduced or removed more than 200 million tons of carbon and other greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
How can Paracel generate carbon credits?
Paracel carries out activities such as afforestation and reforestation (plantation) with eucalyptus, as well as the conservation and restoration of native ecosystems, so it can generate carbon credits for removing and avoiding GHG emissions.
How many carbon credits can Paracel generate?
It is estimated that Paracel can generate 24.5 million loans through the activities carried out in its forestry component.
